At the Homestead
Located next to the BC Parks’ Dunn Peak Protected Area, Beaver Lake Homestead is a great base from which you can explore true wilderness. From the property, you can hike directly in to the Protected Area and walk through beautiful, untouched evergreen forest.
Baldy Mountain can be seen from the cabins and a short drive will get you to the base of the mountain, from where you can take the five-hour hike to the top of Baldy. With a four-wheel drive vehicle, you can drive up the logging trail and hike the last section (approx. 2 hours’ hike). It’s beautiful up there and totally worth the trip.
Just 6km south of the Homestead is Dunn Lake, a 193 acre fresh water lake which is popular among local fishermen. It’s also a great place to spot Bald Eagles, especially when the salmon are spawning.

Clearwater & Surrounding Area
Don’t be fooled by Clearwater’s size. There is so much to do here. Go for a swim in Dutch Lake or relax on the beach. Rent a kayak or paddle board, or take a guided whitewater raft trip or river float trip. Grab your fishing rod and cast your line in one of the many lakes or rivers in the area. Enjoy a round of golf or do a little shopping. Visit the weekly farmer’s market. Saddle-up at one of the local horse ranches and go for a trail ride. If you’re a fan of live music, you’ll find a really unique venue at Serenity Performing Arts Centre, just north of Clearwater at Birch Island. Check out their website here for upcoming events. In between all the action, stop at one of the coffee shops or restaurants for some quality food and drink.
