The journey to Clearwater BC and Beaver Lake Homestead will take you through stunning scenery and provide great opportunities to view wildlife.  Take the time to enjoy the drive through the beautiful province of British Columbia.   You can fuel-up your car, and your tummies if needed, at Barriere, Little Fort or Clearwater.   Be sure to stop for groceries too, as there are no stores within 20km of the homestead.

Despite having a Dunn Lake Road address, the homestead is accessed from Bradshaw Road, just east of Dunn Lake Road.   Once you reach Bradshaw Road, you can follow the sign posts to the homestead.   See below for more detailed directions.

Travelling north from Kamloops

From Kamloops, follow signs for Hwy 5 towards Jasper/Sun Peaks.   At Barriere (approx. 45 mins from Kamloops), you have three options to choose from:

Option 1
Travel through Barriere on Hwy 5 over the bridge and turn right at Barriere Town Road.   At the end of the road, turn left on to Dunn Lake Road.   Follow Dunn Lake Road for 42km until you reach Bradshaw Road on your right.   Dunn Lake Road is narrow in places, so please drive carefully.

Option 2
Continue on Hwy 5 to Little Fort and take the free two-car ferry across the North Thompson River.   The ferry is open from 7am to 6pm, with a lunch break from 11.50am-1pm.   Click here for more info.   Be sure to enjoy a little chat with the friendly ferry operator!   Once you disembark the ferry, follow Windpass Road across the rail line and up over the mountain.   This road is narrow and steep in places, so please take your time.   At the end of Windpass Road you will reach Dunn Lake Road.   Turn left and follow Dunn Lake Road for 6km until you reach Bradshaw Road on your right.

Option 3
Continue on Hwy 5 North towards Clearwater.   As you enter Clearwater you will see the Wells Gray Inn on your right.   Turn right on to Clearwater Village Road just before the Wells Gray Inn.   Follow this road down the hill and over the narrow blue bridge (please give way to on-coming traffic) and over the railway crossing (if the red lights are flashing, stop for the train!).   Continue for 19km until you reach Bradshaw Road on your left.   Dunn Lake Road is steep in places, so please drive carefully and take your time.

Travelling south from Jasper

From Jasper, follow signs for Hwy 5 south towards Vancouver/Kamloops.   You will travel through the beautiful Mount Robson Provincial Park.   Once you reach Clearwater, go over the roundabout and at the bottom of the hill turn left on to Clearwater Village Road just after the Wells Gray Inn.
